Warning: Spoilers for the first three episodes of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” will be discussed in this review.
POW! WHAM! BOOM! Marvel’s troublemakers Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson just recently led the acclaimed TV Mini-Series, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”
Ever since the release of “WandaVision,” Marvel fans all over the world have tuned in every Friday eagerly awaiting a new action-packed episode, or in this case, a new show. Yet, all of this action diminished when the final episode aired a couple of weeks ago.
However, after “WandaVision’s” finale, Marvel already had viewers’ backs covered with the release of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”
Six months after the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson (aka the Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (aka the Winter Soldier) have teamed up to do what heroes are known for, and with the help of an unlikely ally, they embark on a worldwide adventure that questions their abilities as superheroes.
Some critics have said it wasn’t as good as expected, while others argued that it was amazing, but I will say that this show was an out-of-the-ordinary adventure. With different villains and many plot twists, Marvel fans were immediately glued to their screens.
But, let’s date back to the beginning where the adventure started. It all started in 2011 when “Captain America: The First Avenger” hit theatres and Marvel fans began to admire the role of Steve Rogers’ Captain America.
In 2019, this role took a turn with the release of “Avengers: Endgame” giving viewers an inside look into Captain America’s life going back in time where he didn’t live the life of a superhero, but rather the typical American-husband lifestyle.
However, this left viewers perplexed as they had no idea what was happening. Everyone knew his iconic shield was given to Sam Wilson at the end of the movie. But the question was: ‘What about his legacy? Which one of his good pals would follow in his footsteps?’
But with this newly hyped show, Marvel answered all our unanswered questions.
“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” starts off plain, Sam giving up the shield, Bucky having nightmares but the ending was another thing.
The first episode ended with a shocker that many did not expect. With the introduction of a new Captain America, many fans, myself included, were easily angered by the decision to replace our lovable Captain Rogers.
Throughout his cinematic progression, viewers have cried with him, fought with him, and even laughed with him. Surely Captain America is a character no one hates. Remember that time he was able to lift Mjölnir? Yeah, no one hates him.
Though the plot point revolves around Captain America and his legacy, it isn’t the focus of the show.
The second and third episodes take a twist as the show focuses away from Captain America’s legacy and more around Bucky, Sam, and the new Captain America.
In the show, there were several nice moments, we cried, we fought and we hated certain characters. Overall, Marvel surprised us and made us dislike our “heroes” while at the same time making us fond of our “bad guys.”
With our lovable trio being the stars of the show, many memorable moments came up, and let’s say those moments certainly live rent-free in our minds.
The show was filled with what Marvel is known for: Action-packed adventure. With punches, kicks, and espionage the show definitely lived up to the expectations of a Marvel project.
“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” had many epic moments and if you haven’t seen it it’s not too late, the series is streaming exclusively on DisneyPlus.
